I am now working on bugfixing, and the minimal version of openartist(just the most essential tools..gimp, inkscape, blender, ardour, pd, processing, veejay, firefox). This could be done as bottom up (fromscratch +add things) or top down (from full openArtist and reduce then). I tried both approaches, ended up in top down for convenience.
I managed to build a very minimal interface with openbox. It is now also inteded as second interface in normal openArtist, but for users who do know which programs are installed and just need to use them as clutter free s possible. It can be easily made more mainstream user convienient, but now features just a systray (with sound and network config), gnome do and mousegestures, guake terminal. real slick. openbox menus can also be called via mousegestures and keyboardshortcuts .
anonymous Bug tracking is now possible with mantis. was the quickest solution and works fine.

I have found a way to try the distro online, without downloading it. a demo mode. A majour feature for me. Wo likes to dl 4gb just for trying sth. ? It works, but must be made secure before it goes public.
